Background
Named after Brenda Lee, Brenda Nokula Fassie was raised in Cape Town's Langa township, where she would sing for tourists. She would eventually become the lead singer of Johannesburg group The Big Dudes in 1983. 4 years later, she would release her landmark self-titled debut — the first of 20 studio albums.
