Given Zulu

Given zulu is an audio engineer, composer, composer, vocalist, and film scorer.

Background

As a young teenager, Zulu would beatbox and mimic the voices of others around him to satisfy his need to creeate music. His beatboxing led him to competitions and performances, where he tuned his craft. When his sister begrugingly accepted a guitar as a gift, it was Given that appreciated it, secretly practicing his playing whenever his sister wasn't home. He combined his guitar playing with his beatboxing skills, creating a one-man band.

After completing high school, he studied architecture at the university of Johannesburg, but dropped out on the day of his final exam to open for a Hugh Masekela show. To make a living, he started making and selling trap beats in Johannesburg. From 2020, he's been focused on developing his own sound, one that he describes as 'Premium African Music.'
